Marvellous historic hotel

Wonderful old hotel full of character, excellent food in restaurant, fabulous view of the harbour from my room and the terrace, very handy for the ferry to Spain and the Tangier Medina.

Very run down, but still THE place to stay in Tangier. But please spend a little money on it!

The location was perfect - specially as we arrived by ferry which is just a short walk from the hotel (provided you use TangierVille port). Lots of history wrapped up in the hotel, and this alone was a good reason to stay there. Terraces at front give marvellous views over the shoreline and around the bay of the city. Staff on desk very helpful. Breakfast good.

Very run down, and a bit sad to see it like this. Lots of easy, cheap things could help - like a sand and repaint of wooden rails on the terrace. Perhaps a little mood music playing in all the little nooks of the hotel to give it some atmosphere. Perhaps have some playing the grand piano I could see in the dining room which is currently very un-inviting (didn’t see anyone eating there, but imagine food good, as breakfast was) Our room was a little odd with way too many beds squeezed in which made access to the window views tricky. The receptionist explained on arrival that he had moved us to a 4 bed room so that we had the preferential front view to the sea. Would have been better to remove two of the beds too.

Great location, right on the edge of the Medina, and minutes from the ferry port to Tarifa. The property is dated, but it's charming and quirky, breakfast was lovely, location is outstanding and its history is worth delving into. Tangiers is a charm

Wonderful memories in this historical hotel

After my first night at the hotel I complained about the room cleanliness and the cigarette odor in the AC and they promptly moved me for an upgraded room, sea view. The view and the hotel location were wonderful and the museum inside the hotel is a delight for people who like preserved historic places and beautiful things.

Breakfast could be better. The presentation was not really welcoming.

Safe friendly old magnificent hotel

I booked this last minute and paid at the hotel, staff were very friendly and welcoming and helped with our bags. Room was basic and clean with a nice bathroom. Location was good right near old town and ferry port. The hotel is very old and magnificent the interior was very ornate. It was like stepping back in time. Breakfast was nice not a huge choice but eating on the terrace was lovely with a great view. My friend and I felt very safe here and would recommend it.

That they don’t provide bottled water in the room

Charming old hotel near the port. And at start of Medina with a lovely stroll up to the Kasbah Staff were great. Very helpful

Some rooms are better than others!

Great location and lovely building. Helpful staff.

We had to change room because of a malfunctioning shower, which was annoying in a 2 night stay. The new room was much better in terms of noise and bad air from something burning across the street. My review would have been lower!

Perfect for a visit

Yusef checked us in and was so kind and friendly. Allowed us to leave our bags in reception as we arrived early. Lovely balcony cafeteria. Great location.

Little noisy. 3rd floor steps bit much for us.

great staff great location, would stay again

Everything was fantastic, if i had to sy anything negitive it was the WIFI on the 3rd floor it was hit and miss, however the wifi in the lobby was excelent.

Great location

Very interesting location on the edge of the Medina but with great views across the bay. Lovely staff. Interesting hotel/museum.

I have some reduced mobility so the stairs were a bit of a trial for me. Staff very helpful with my case. I missed out on breakfast because I couldn't face going down the stairs and then the climb up to the terrace. I'm sure if I'd told the staff this there would have been a work around but I'm not a big breakfast person so I chose not to put them to the trouble.

Beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel in a scenic location. The staff was nice and our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast had a lot of options.

Our rooms had an ocean view. On the weekend it got really noisy with wedding parties setting off fireworks and honking car horns all night until 6 am. If you stay on a Friday or Saturday, ask for a room in a different part of the hotel so you can get some sleep.

A nice experience and decent value for money

Friendly staff, excellent location, good breakfast and the old hotel has a lot of historical charm.

The rooms are small and need updating - very noisy and no hot water between midday and 7pm
